Sending payments by mail
You can send cash notes or you can send a cheque (check), draft or money order made out to Robert Oswald. We will accept any of these currencies:

Stirling (U.K. Pounds)

Euros

US Dollars
Canadian Dollars
Australian Dollars
New Zealand Dollars

Sorry we can't accept any other currencies at the moment, the exchange rates are too unreliable.

Cash
There is no exchange surcharge for cash transactions. If you are sending cash either send it by registered mail, or wrap it up well inside the order form and maybe some pieces of cardboard so that it is well hidden from prying eyes and fingers. We only accept paper money, no coins, so you have to round-up your order to the nearest amount. Sending cash unregistered is a bit of a risk, but we have only ever lost two cash orders  in the last 7 years - and one of those was registered - so you must make your own decision.

Cheques (that's brit English for checks)
A normal personal or business cheque will be OK. For Overseas customers (i.e. not in U.K.) - you don't have to make any special arrangements with your bank, and it doesn't incur any extra charges on your account. It does incur an extra charge of GBP5.50 on our account, though. That's why there is a surcharge for cheque payments on the Order Form.

Here are the surcharge amounts for each currency:

Surcharge per order for foreign cheques

Euros US $ AUS $ NZ$ CAN£
8.50 10.00 14.00 16.00 13.00

Please make sure you enter this amount on the order form before you add up the total. And remember, the surcharge is per cheque. So, even if you are ordering several items, there is still only the one surcharge.

What the price includes
Prices quoted include:

  • Packaging
  • Shipping to anywhere in the world by normal air mail delivery service.
  • VAT within the UK

Prices do not Include:

  • Local VAT or sales tax outside the UK. USA and Canada customers should note that personal purchases from the U.K. are not subject to any local sales tax.
  • Local Import or Customs duty. EC customers should note that there is no customs or import duty on goods purchased from the UK.

Some notes about customs duty
USA and Canada customers should note that personal gifts are not subject to customs duty. Since you have kindly made a voluntary donation to the upkeep of our expensive website that happens to exactly match the price of the purchased item, we will be pleased to send your order as a gift from us to you. And that is what we will write on the Customs Declaration Form.

Australian customers should note that there are tight restrictions on the import of wooden products. Why your government imagines that wood coated in several layers of varnish can harbour any pests or infections, we really cannot understand, but that's the position. Officials have been known to carry out a destructive decontamination procedure on imported wooden goods that renders them quite useless. We do not make any reference to wood on the Customs Declaration Form, but it's your decision whether you take the risk. We do not give refunds for goods destroyed by the Australian Customs & Excise Department.

Shipping
Goods will normally be shipped 7-21 days after receipt of order. If there is likely to be a longer delay, we will email you for instructions before banking your payment.

You will receive a shipping advice notice by email on the day of dispatch.

All dispatches are by Britain's Royal Mail or Parcel Force services and will be delivered by your national post office or mail service.
Delivery times are approximately as follows:

Mainland UK 2-3 days
Rest of UK 2-5 days
Western Europe 4-7 days
USA, Canada, Mexico 5-8 days
Rest of the World 6-10 days

UK Orders
Parcels for UK and EC delivery will bear normal commercial labels with the Celtic Craftwork logo and address. If you require any different treatment for your order (e.g. because it's a surprise present), please give details on the order form.

Overseas Orders
Parcels dispatched from the UK to other overseas destinations are required to bear a customs declaration form. Our usual practice is to declare goods as "Gifts" and describe them as jewelry, novelties or games. We normally pack goods in plain wrappers with handwritten labels. This usually results in the parcel being treated as a private gift mailing.  If you require any different treatment for your order, please give details on the order form.

No-Quibble Guarantee
If you are not completely satisfied with any goods they may be returned within 21 days for a full refund of the purchase price - no quibbling.

All products are guaranteed against faults in fabrication for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Do bear in mind however, that many goods are handmade from natural and recycled materials so minor imperfections are inevitable. For example, if something is delivered damaged, or if a product falls to bits, then of course we will replace it or refund. But flaws in wooden surfaces are characteristic of the product and have to be accepted as natural imperfections.
